Demonstrate teaching and learning principles in relation to professional practice.
In LIS 725 we were tasked with creating a lesson plan of our choosing. This lesson plan had to be realistic, precise, and follow all educational and library guidelines as though it would actually be used in a school library. For this assignment, I chose to do a lesson plan on “The Parts of Books and Where They Live!” intended for a class of elementary school students. This lesson plan teaches students the different parts of books as well as some history about libraries. Not only does this assignment demonstrate teaching and learning principles in professional practice, but it highlights the diverse and evolving use of libraries in schools as not only places to find books on shelves, but additional classrooms to learn important and vital informational practices.
