Demonstrate effective professional communication to achieve common understanding as an individual or in group settings.
In LIS 702, we explored instructional presentations as ways to effectively communicate with coworkers and patrons to achieve a common understanding of how a library function works. In a two-part assignment, I offered a presentation and an outline on how to do an Interlibrary Loan Request at the Rebecca-Crown library, aimed towards University freshman. I chose this subject because I find it to be a library resource that many patrons, many University students in particular, do not know exist–and it is such an amazing resource! That is why I aimed it at freshman, so they can start their educational career with a major tool under their belt. Overall, this presentation demonstrates professional communication with the intention of creating a common understanding across a large educational community.
